Level 3 International Award (Silver) in Safety Investigation

From 20 January 2022 – 31 March 2022

(every Thursday, 3.5 hours, 09.00 – 12.30) Half-term 24 Feb

30 hours

This course is available for 400 students to have registered access to pre-recorded and live content with tutor supported activities to extend and consolidate knowledge.

In studying this course with the HSIB you will work with investigation science educators to explore the aspects of safety science, investigation processes and investigation skills which provide the foundations for the professional safety investigator. You will be guided through the process of an investigation to identify the systemic factors which contribute to cause an unexpected incident. The teaching and learning will be multi-method online providing opportunity to collaborate with your co-learners in exploring the practical application of investigation science in healthcare.

The tutor led 30-hour course is spread over 10 sessions. This will allow you time to test and hone your investigation skills as you go. On completion of the course you will be able to apply to complete a competency portfolio. This is best done alongside live investigations and will require your organisation to sign up to having a board level sponsor of investigation science. The portfolio is expected to take around 6 months to complete and upon successful completion you will gain an HSIB Level 3 Award in Healthcare Safety Investigation. You will later be able to do a top up course to Level 4 if you wish.
