Catherine has a diverse background in safety-critical industries. Alongside her position as Intelligence Analyst at HSIB, she works nursing shifts to maintain her clinical healthcare skills and Nursing and Midwifery Council registration. Catherine is also a commercial pilot and continues to fly regularly, including in her role as a flying instructor.
Her past positions include Nurse at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Thornbury Nursing Services. She’s also held a variety of roles with Cobham Aviation Services including Aircraft Captain, Flying Instructor and Examiner; Flight Safety Manager; and Crew Resource Management Instructor.
Human Factors is an area of particular interest for Catherine and she’s currently studying an MSc in Human Factors and Ergonomics with Loughborough University. She’s an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
Catherine has experienced patient safety from all perspectives - as a patient, relative and a nurse. She wants to contribute to improving patient safety to ensure better experiences and outcomes for all.
